Introducing the Sandy Herrold Memorial Escapade Scholarship. 

The scholarship program represents two of many great ideals of slash fandom: community and support. Sandy Herrold embodied these ideals as well. This year, to acknowledge and remember a slash hostess, an Escapade ambassador, and a dear friend, we will endow the Sandy Herrold Memorial Escapade Scholarship.

Sandy loved vidding. She loved watching vids, making vids, critiquing vids, and the entire art of the process. She loved the vid community. To honor her contributions to that community, the Herrold Scholarship will assist a vidder.

The first recipient of the Herrold Memorial Escapade Scholarship is Greensilver. We’re happy to report that she would like to attend but wouldn’t have been able to make the finances work without shcolarship support; that she is willing to volunteer 5 hours on site and willing to co-moderate panels, and that she has submitted vids for Escapade’s songvid shows.

Remembering Sandy is a wonderful, and sometimes painful, thing for those of us who knew her well. But mostly, it’s wonderful, and the stories we have shared and heard about Sandy warm our hearts. This page is open to comments, and attendees are invited to share any thoughts, stories, or special memories here that they wish. We hope Greensilver and future Herrold scholarship recipients will have a chance to read them and get to know, even better, the woman for whom this scholarship is named.
