Introducing- the Escapade Welcommittee!
What’s a Welcommittee, you ask? It’s the fannish version of a welcome wagon, helping you feel at home in a new place, answering questions, holding your hand, pretty much anything you need to make your Escapade experience as good as it can be.
We’d like to introduce you to ride_4ever, our Welcommittee for Escapade 2020 and an enthusiastic member of the community who has stepped up to support the con in numerous ways since her very first Escapade. She has helped the con communications team by doing beta work on the Escapade news communications and now serves as Escapade’s Welcommittee and a great resource for new and returning attendees alike.
If you have questions for ride before the convention, you can reach out to her at email@example.com You can recognize her during the con by the full sleeves of due South tattoos from shoulder to wrist on both of her arms! If there’s a question she can’t answer, you can bet she’ll know who to ask or how to connect you with the people who can help. Anyone staffing the con suite will also be happy to help with questions that come up for you during the weekend.
Many thanks to ride for making herself available as a wonderful resource to help our members make the most of their con experience!
The Escapade Volunteer Program
Every year at Escapade we are so grateful for our volunteers. The truth is that it is our volunteers who help us keep the con running, and help us keep our sanity during the busy con weekend.
Volunteers help us with a bit of everything. The con suite, art show, door guards, setting up panel rooms, you name it, we can use help with it. The virtual con has opportunities to volunteer as well. Information about all these opportunities will be available in the con suite if needed.
If you are new to Escapade, volunteering at the con is a great way to meet people. If you are a repeat attendee, we know that new fans really appreciate having someone to help guide them to the best the con has to offer.
In recent years, we have also introduced the option to live-tweet or live-blog Escapade panels as a volunteer opportunity, and that option is available again this year. Help share the experience of an Escapade panel with friends who can’t attend the con, and showcase the clever, funny, and intriguing ideas that make Escapade panels so much fun.
Also, in appreciation of the volunteers who are so vital to the con, if you volunteer for five or more hours you will be automatically registered for next year’s convention, and receive a $10 credit!
If you want to volunteer or have any questions about volunteering you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org You can also sign up for volunteer slots in the con suite at the convention.
