We are returning once again to the Embassy Suites LAX North after continuing to get positive feedback from the con membership. A double queen room at the con rate starts at $185 for 1-2 guests, and a single king starts at $165 for 1-2 guests, with modest charges for additional guests. The hotel offers a range of amenities that help offset this cost.
The rooms are large enough to permit really comfortable sharing and are equipped with refrigerators and microwaves if you want to bring your own food for economy or convenience. This can definitely help bring down the cost! They are all suites, so a double can fit 3-6 people with two beds in the bedroom and the sofa bed in the living room. The rooms have several outlets, but we suggest you bring some extra power strips if there are several of you sharing a room. It is possible to connect to the TV with an HDMI cable, but be aware that some guests have had difficulty making this connection work, and the hotel has not been able to provide any real tech support.
The hotel offers a complimentary, all-you-can-eat, self-serve breakfast in the lobby every morning with a hot and cold buffet that includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, potatoes, cereal, fruit, yogurt, pastries, bagels, toast, juice, coffee, and soda. There is also a cook preparing made-to-order omelettes. This is a truly unusual complimentary hotel breakfast situation! The hotel also offers a Happy Hour every evening, with free well drinks, soda, and snacks including chips and salsa and fresh veggies and dip. This is all included with the cost of your room!
The hotel has some fun and weird features! The lobby design offers a lot of comfortable open seating at tables and couches. It’s kind of arty in a sci-fi way, including glass sculptures and glass elevators that could be right off the set for an alien palace. The room floors ring and overlook the lobby, so you can look down from the balconies on each floor to find your friends or see who might be hanging out in the lobby and up for some company. If you get a late-night craving for a snack or a soda, you might get a visit from Winnie the room-service robot, and to add to the sci-fi effect, you will probably find yourself sharing the elevator with her at some point during your stay.
